What has changed and why?
USPS still offers a small rate box but now we would have to charge $8.35. This is Priority Mail giving you a tracking number with delivery in 3 days or less. USPS has added a flat rate padded envelope and so we are unable to offer the Small Flat Box as an option. There is no way for my shopping cart to distinguish between the two packing options. The cart “decides” on the shipping container based on the weight and dimensions of the products ordered. It can fit a lot more items into the padded envelope than into the small flat rate box. Unfortunately, many of the items it wants to put into the padded envelope won’t get enough protection being shipped that way. Because of that, we have had to discontinue the option of selecting the small flat rate box as a shipping method.
It is not all bad.
On the plus side, USPS has added the Regional Rate Boxes which often have about the same shipping costs (sometimes even less) than the Small Flat Rate Boxes have. Because of this, I do feel that the shopping cart will figure out a shipping rate that is close to it if not slightly better than the Small Flat Rate Box option. Another plus is you are not limited to 4 bars of soap or 4 lotion bars. As long as the shopping cart calculates that your order will fit into the Regional Rate A Box then that is the shipping rate it will figure for you. Our Natural Handmade Soaps, Shampoos, and Face Care products will all fit into a Regional Rate A Box. About the only product we can’t ship in that size box are our body scrubs.
There is no denying that shipping rates have gone up over the years. We are doing our best to keep them down for you and we feel that Priority Shipping is the least expensive way to ensure our products arrive at your door in with no loss of quality. We are still offering you a Free Shipping option with a purchase of $100 or more. It should automatically show up in your cart as a shipping option without having to login or anything special beyond selecting it.
