Why Essential Oils for Skincare? Beyond Just a Pretty Scent!
You might wonder why you should even consider essential oils for skin care. What do they truly offer? Well, they have all kinds of wonderful properties way beyond just smelling fabulous. Science has been digging into the benefits of many oils, showing their incredible potential for a natural skincare routine.
My Top Essential Oils for Glowing Skin
Here are a few of my favorites for achieving that coveted glowing skin:
- Carrot Seed: The All-Rounder for All Skin Types.
Lately, science has been showing that carrot seed essential oil is packed with antioxidants. It’s fantastic for nourishing your skin, which is why we include it in our popular face serums! - Frankincense: Your Mature Skin’s Best Friend.
Yes, our beloved Frankincense essential oil makes an appearance here too! It’s really good for helping with mature skin, tackling wrinkles and signs of aging. Plus, it’s wonderful for stress relief – a bonus for your overall well-being! - Geranium: Balancing Act for Hormonal Skin.
Geranium essential oil is a gem for helping to balance out skin issues related to hormonal ups and downs. And as an added perk, it helps boost your mood!
Essential Oil Skincare: The Safe Way to a Natural Glow
While essential oils offer amazing benefits, it’s super important to use them correctly. Just because something is natural doesn’t mean it’s always safe if misused!
- Dilution is Key: Always, always dilute essential oils. A good rule of thumb is a 2% dilution rate. That means 2% essential oil (or blend) and 98% base oil.
- Choose Your Base Wisely: For face care, I highly recommend sweet almond oil (different from bitter almond!). For body care, safflower oil is fantastic – it’s moisturizing without being greasy and light enough for year-round use. These carrier oils are crucial for safe application.
- Oils to Avoid (on your face/large areas): Steer clear of mints (peppermint, spearmint) and spice oils (cinnamon, clove) in leave-on products. They can be too tingly or irritating for your face or large areas of your body. We use them in wash-off products like soaps, but always with care.
- Patch Test for Sensitive Skin: If you have super sensitive skin, do a patch test on a small area before applying to a larger one. Even gentle oils like lavender and chamomile can cause reactions in some people.
- More is NOT Better: Don’t think that increasing the concentration will give you faster results. Stick to the recommended dilution rates. Bombarding your senses with too many essential oils can actually lead to reactions.
The Power of Consistency: A Slow Burn, Not a Quick Fix for Radiant Skin
Natural skincare products, especially essential oils, are more of a “slow burn” than a “super quick fix.” When I started using my face serum in my 30s for adult acne, it took about a month to see significant improvement, and three months for the acne to be gone – but that was with consistent, twice-daily use.
Consistency is vital! I still use my anti-aging face serum every day, morning and evening. It moisturizes, makes me feel good, and the scent is a holistic boost to my day. Choose essential oils and products that you genuinely enjoy using, because that makes consistency so much easier!
Looking Ahead: The Future of Skincare is Natural!
People are becoming more and more aware of the benefits of essential oils. They’re wanting simpler, more natural routines and skincare solutions instead of expensive, multi-step processes. Natural essential oils and their products fit right into that!
We’re in sync with what’s going forward, and if you look back in history, natural products from Mother Nature have been a part of health and skincare for ages. Science is also starting to back us up with research on oils like carrot seed and lavender.

FAQs
How do you use essential oils for glowing skin?
The easiest way is to find a company that you trust and makes skin care products using essential oils. Start small with just one or two products at a time. You don’t want to overload your system until you are sure of which essential oils work best for you.
Where should you apply the essential oils for glowing skin?
The best area to start with is where you are having the most issues like dry and/or itchy skin or wrinkles. Start with an area that is bothering you the most and then go from there. For many people that is either their face or perhaps arms or legs. So begin with a face serum or body oil created with a base oil and then essential oils that are properly diluted.
