Yes, you can achieve more by doing less, but it’s not a slam dunk. You need to do it right. Here I am giving you some Dos and Don’ts to help your efforts succeed. It’s not complicated, but you do need to put some thought into it.
Do: Set Priorities
The first step to doing less and achieving more is to set priorities. What is most important to you? What do you want to accomplish? Then, after answering honestly, focus on what is important to you and let go of the rest.
Don’t: Try to do it all
It’s essential to be clear about your priorities because trying to do it all will only lead to overwhelm and stress. When you notice you are overwhelmed, take a step back and ask yourself what can be removed from your plate. Remember, you alone do not need to do it all. Trying to do everything is impossible, so stop trying.

Do: Simplify Your Life
One way to get more done is to simplify your life. Declutter your home, eliminate things you don’t need, and streamline your daily routine. The less complex your life is, the more time and energy you’ll have to focus on what’s truly important. Here’s a post that might help: Why Decluttering Benefits Self-Care And Tips To Make It Happen!
Don’t: Let Fear Stop You
Fear can be paralyzing. Fear prevents you from taking the actions you need to take to simplify your life. Maybe you’re afraid of letting go of things or afraid of change. But remember, fear is only a feeling. It doesn’t have to control you.
Do: Automate and Delegate
When you automate tasks and delegate responsibilities, you’re free to focus on the things that only you can do. There are many ways to automate your life, from setting up automatic bill payments to using a personal assistant app. And delegation doesn’t have to be difficult either. Just ask for help when you need it.
Don’t: Cut Corners
Just because you’re doing less doesn’t mean you should start cutting corners. Skimping on quality or taking shortcuts will only lead to subpar results. On the other hand, when you’re trying to achieve more with less, it’s essential to do things most efficiently, even if it takes a bit longer.
Do: Focus on Your Strengths
When you focus on your strengths, you can accomplish more with less effort. What are you good at? What comes easily to you? When you focus on your strengths, you’ll be able to work smarter, not harder.
Don’t: Neglect Your Weaknesses
While focusing on your strengths is essential, you can’t neglect your weaknesses. Ignoring your weaknesses will only worsen them, and they could eventually become roadblocks to your success. Face your weaknesses head-on. Identify your weaknesses and take steps to overcome them. Whether that means learning something new or delegating to someone else is up to you.
Do: Take Breaks

Taking breaks may seem counterintuitive if you’re trying to achieve more, but it’s actually essential. When you take breaks, you give your mind a chance to rest and rejuvenate. And when you’re well-rested, you can work more efficiently and effectively.
Don’t: Burn Out
Burnout is the enemy of productivity. When you’re burned out, you’re mentally and physically exhausted. And when you’re exhausted, it’s impossible to get anything done. Avoid burnout by scheduling regular breaks in your day and taking some time for yourself every week. Hint: Treat yourself to a couple of our Quintessential Oils and soak up some serious aromatherapy.
Do: Set Limits
This may be the most important of all the Dos and Don’ts in this post. Setting limits is essential for increasing your productivity. When you set limits, you’re saying no to the things that don’t matter, so you can say yes to the things that do. Kick fear aside and set boundaries in your life. Limits and boundaries are the only way to protect your time and energy.
Don’t: Spread Yourself Too Thin
When you do too much, you end up spreading yourself too thin. And when you’re spread too thin, it’s impossible to give any one thing your full attention. Focus on doing a few things well instead of everything halfway.
Dos and Don’ts Summed Up!
Remember, you don’t have to do everything. In fact, you can’t do everything. When you feel overwhelmed go thru this short list and take control again.
- Take a step back and ask yourself what can be removed from your plate.
- Simplify your life, focusing on your strengths.
- Take breaks when necessary.
- Most importantly, don’t be afraid to set limits.
- You’ll achieve all your goals and more in life by doing less.
