Belated Birthday Blog Post

Share with your friends!

Yesterday was my birthday and I meant to do a blog post but then I got caught up in well, birthday stuff.  A good friend took me to lunch, my sister called to wish me Happy Birthday, and my guys (husband and son took me out for sushi).  All in all a great day but just barely enough time left to take care of orders, feed the chickens and do the breakfast dishes.  The blog didn’t happen – so here is my belated birthday post to update you on some important happenings at Susan’s Soaps & More.

Soaring All Natural PerfumePin
created by Susan's Soaps & More

1st:  in case you haven’t caught it – we introduced our all natural perfume, Soaring.  It took me about two years to get it the way I wanted it and I think I got it right.  No one scent is going to be perfect for everyone, but not only do I personally love Soaring, but I have been wearing it for several months now and have numerous people ask me what I was wearing.  I was placing an order at the DMA cafe recently and the woman behind the counter commented on how fabulous I smelled and what was I wearing.  In my book perfume compliments don’t get much better than that!

It combines top accents of orange and pettigrain with middle notes of jasmine and palmarosa; all grounded by sandalwood, vanilla and vetiver.  We are offering the perfume in a purse spray size and a 1.8 atomizer bottle as well.  I hope you enjoy it!

2nd: No orders will be shipped from Wed. May 18th until Mon. May 30th.

The reason being, Jerry and I are leaving on Tuesday, May 17th to attend the HSMG (Handcrafted Soap Makers Guild) conference in Miami.  We will in Miami through Monday and then are renting a car and driving down to spend the rest of the week in Key West!

I have never been to Key West and am so excited.  I think we may go out to visit Dry Tortugas National Park one day.  It is an island with a fort on it that is only accessible by boat or plane.  Fort Jefferson was constructed in the mid 19th century to protect the extremely lucrative shipping channel in the Gulf of Mexico.  They also used it to house criminals, including Dr. Mudd who was convicted of conspiring to assassinate President Lincoln.  We take a boat over to the island where there are tours of the fort, snorkeling, bird watching and simply enjoying the beach.

I am planning on sending out some photos while at the conference and on vacation so watch my facebook page for updates.

Annie will be still be in working some while we’re gone and I’ll have my computer with me to answer emails.  But, as I am the only one that actually processes orders, nothing will be shipping out until we get back from Key West.

3rd: I will be a vendor at the Acres Las Vegas show the first weekend of June.  This is a trade show for the artisan gallery and gift markets that features only handcrafted work.  I was one of three soap makers selected by the HSMG to represent our guild at this event.  I have never exhibited in Las Vegas before and am really looking forward to the opportunity.  If you will be attending this event please stop by and say Hi.

That’s it for now.  I’ll keep you posted from Florida!
