Good food and entertainment!
Lots of people!
It all added up to a great opening day for the 2011 Texas State Fair.
I don’t think I have ever been there on the fair’s opening day before. Normally we sample every Saturday and Sunday. However, they organized the sampling a little differently this year so I am doing Thursdays and Fridays along with some Saturdays and Sundays. (For my complete schedule you can check out my website time slot listings.) Because of this I wasn’t sure what to expect but it was much busier than I had anticipated, even running out of flyers to handout. In case you haven’t ever seen us at the fair our product display is located in the Food & Fiber building. We are members of the Go Texan and display and sell our products through their store as well as sample our products through their sampling program.
There are some changes in the layout of the Food & Fiber vendors as well and they seemed well received. There is a bar-b-que place and a booth making cookies for sale. In between these two eateries is a small area with a couple of tables and chairs for you to sit and enjoy your food. If you haven’t ever visited the Food & Fiber Pavillion I urge you to check it out. And if you haven’t made it to the State Fair, ever (gasp!) or even in just a few years you’re overdue for a visit.
Here are a few opening day photos and video I shot of some cloggers on the entertainment stage in the Food & Fiber building. I will be trying to get some shots and videos of some of my fair favorites to share with you over the next several weeks.
